Our country is not in good shape. For years, governments have governed without regard for the wishes of the majority. Instead of rewarding merit, wealth has been redistributed from the hardworking to the privileged few. Instead of investing in a competent nation and good public services, politicians have catered to powerful lobbies and foreign interests, emptying the public coffers. Instead of respecting freedom and diversity of opinion, an authoritarian style of politics is spreading — one that dictates to citizens how they should live, how they must pay, and how they should think and speak. Many political decisions appear haphazard, short-sighted, and incompetent. Without a fresh start, our industries, our essential services, and our middle class are all at risk.

Many Canadians have lost faith in government and no longer feel represented by any existing party. They rightly feel they no longer live in the country Canada once was. Hospital patients wait months for care, families cannot find housing they can afford, and a handful of dominant corporations charge among the highest banking fees, telecom bills, and grocery prices in the G7. People worry about their future and their children’s. They want responsible policies that preserve our economic strength, ensure a fair distribution of wealth, defend our sovereignty, and protect the freedoms of the people.

The Common Good Party was founded to give these people a voice again. We do not promote the tired script of left versus right — the real divide is between the many who do the work and the few who extract the rewards. We stand for a return of common sense to politics: an honest set of solutions grounded in what actually works. Canada needs a strong, innovative economy and social justice; a sovereign identity that places Canadians first; respect for individual freedom; and an open culture of debate. We organize our program around four principles: Economic Common Sense, Social Justice, Sovereign Identity, and Freedom.

For years, inequality has been growing in our country. Millions of people work hard to provide a good life for themselves and their families. It is they who keep our society running and pay the vast majority of taxes.

Our country deserves a confident policy that prioritizes the wellbeing of its own citizens and is built on a clear understanding that the interests of our larger neighbour is not always the same as ours. Our goal is an independent Canada in a multipolar world — not a junior partner whose resources, data, and decisions are dictated from abroad.
